AN ANECDOTE :)

I was just talking with my cousin and she reminded me of a beautiful memory we had and I thought it would be nice to share it here.

I love these "local rounds" that I go with my mom. It basically means going around our area and getting errands done... that's it. I have been going to these with her since forever and I don't really get why I love it so much... it could be that I get to buy cheap fun stuff for me or we visit my grandparents we go on these... it's hard to say but I love them.

But we used to have a very special local round... our monthly library visit. My mother would take a work from home every Friday and she would choose a free one for us to go. I would go to school super excited and flaunt to all my friends about how I am going to the library with my mother after school and they would all look at me with a blank is-she-crazy look as to why going to the library was very special... but it was to me. My cousin who lives out of the country would joins us too when she is in town making it all the more fun.

I would come back from school around 4. I would barely sit for about 15 minutes before I would start getting ready. We would leave around 5 o clock and get into the auto we have been traveling in for all these years and we still do. It is about a half an hour auto ride ( I love the auto rides to anywhere ) and I would enjoy it all through. With my cuz, we would chat the whole way about anything and everything. Then we would reach                                                                                                                    PARADISE ✨

It was a dingy old building from outside... to laymen but to me it was heaven... a heaven full of the smell of print and pages. I cannot even begin to explain how many books that place had... they either had it or it was out of stock. They never not had it. I would enter and take my sweet time picking out everything I wanted... looking through the pages, admiring the cover and reading the story line. I would relish and enjoy and pick each book. I never came out of there with less than 4 or 5 books... a handful of books and happiness.

Then, to add on, there was this chaat shop right next to it. We went there for pani puris and ice cream sodas. They tasted soooo much better knowing I have some amazing stories to get into right when I got home. It would be 6:30 or 7 by then and we would come back home with handful of happiness, stomach full of chaat and sodas and hearts full of joy.

But one day, it came on the newspaper that the library was closing down because of loss. I was really really heartbroken. It was very sad to go there for the last time and the worst part was looking at those empty shelves. It was like they felt empty too.

Now, even though we have a membership to two other nearby libraries, they just aren't as enjoyable as the ones from OURS. It was like the authors and pages had better stories to tell when we got it from there. But nevertheless, neither has it decreased my love for books nor has it made local rounds less fun and remains a beautiful memory forever. 😌

IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS THAT MATTER...

  1. Dude, this post is truly very relatable🤩 Little things matter!!!... This blog shows the love that you have on that library and that owner must be proud enough to have had you as his/her customer 😂.....
