THE BEST THING CORONA DID...
Ok, its been really really long since I wrote but as my cousin brother quoted "the more idle I am the more idle my mind is too". Words and sentences were not forming in my head at all and I was almost in the verge of forcing myself to write something. But after Diwali it was totally not necessary!!
I know corona had a some ups- to balance out all of the downs this year was throwing at us - like spending time with our family, rediscovering our hobbies, making time for ourselves and so much more. But in my observation Diwali 2020 was the best that happened due to corona. Let me tell you why.
Let's go back to 2019 for a minute. Ahhh what a year! But lets focus on Diwali 2019. No sounds of fireworks, no occasional colors in the sky at night, no activity and I mean none at all!!! There was no Diwali vibe at all... it was very very bland and dull. Only on Diwali did we hear some occasional cracker sounds and we saw some colors at night. To be honest, it felt like like all other beautiful ancient things that are fading away, Diwali was too..... it was hard to imagine Chennai like that.
Now lets come back to this year. This year Diwali was totally something else!!!! People were soooooo fed up of being locked at home all year that it was quite the celebration that Diwali deserves. This year has been so bad and dull for everybody that people wanted a chance to get out and celebrate for a while and have some satisfactory happiness. There was so much color, so much excitement and a lot of sound. People started the celebrations a week before and the flat in front of ours was a whole another thing. They were bursting fancy fireworks everyday till Diwali it was so colorful and exciting to watch from home!!!!
On Diwali, sounds were non stop and the evening was extremely colorful. The streets didn't require lights, the sky on its own was lit up so much with beautiful fiery lights. And after a long while we also left our homes for a small get together with the fam and boy did we have fun!!! It was amazing together- time with food, laughter, happiness and of course FIREWORKS!!! I hope every one of you had a great Diwali too... with your family and a lot of sweets to munch on.
Well, now its post Diwali and we are back to the old lockdown routine. But things are starting to look up and a hope that it is all going to be over soon is starting to brighten within. So hopefully, wherever you are, we can meet soon! 😊💗
